Nordeck Apartments

Nordeck Apartments, a 6-building cooperative on the Rockaway Peninsula, obtained funding from NYC Housing Recovery's Build It Back Program for a major capital improvement program after sustaining damage during Hurricane Sandy.

Nordeck Apartment entrance

Exterior elevation and sidewalk repairs in all building entrances. Removed and repaired cracked, spalled, or otherwise defective exterior brickwork.

Window replacement program

Window replacement program involved installation of new energy efficient, fire-rated, and hurricane-grade window assemblies. Defective fire escape railings were replaced for all six buildings.

New service ramp

Installation of new ADA-compliant concrete walkway and service ramp.

Completed roof replacement program included replacement of defective in-wall counterflashing along the main bulkhead, terrace, and entrance roofs for all six of the complex's buildings.

New roofing system and railings were installed for all six of the complex's buildings.

Before boiler room repairs

The complex's single boiler room which serviced all six buildings and was flooded and incapacitated during Hurricane Sandy.

After boiler room repairs

Completed boiler room renovation and heating plant upgrade program involved the installation of six new high-efficiency boilers and six new hot water boilers above flood elevation within each building.
